Woman holding head in hands surrounded by text describing stress and tasks
OVERWHELMED

Navigating motherhood, court cases and all the rest in between!

  • Hi there…

I’m guessing what brought you here is that we have something in common—or maybe a lot in common.

Maybe your life is spiraling out of your control.

Maybe it feels like it’s always one thing after another. A never-ending cycle of stress, disappointment, frustration, and holding on by a thread while everyone around you says things like, “Just stay positive”, or (my personal favorite) “He’ll get in trouble, eventually”.

Maybe nobody quite understands what you’re carrying.

That’s how I’ve felt for the last eight years.

Truthfully, the thirty-something years before that weren’t exactly a walk in the park either, but ever since I had a child with the wrong man, life has been… interesting.

And by “interesting,” I mean exhausting, heartbreaking, absurd, frustrating, and occasionally so ridiculous that all you can do is laugh or laugh and cry at the same time!

Here you’ll find stories about navigating family court, dealing with lawyers who seem more interested in keeping conflict alive than resolving it, co-parenting with a narcissist (or narc, if you’re familiar with the lingo), motherhood, trying to find work in an economy that feels determined to make life harder, and eventually deciding to create my own opportunities instead.

I’ll also write about Iowa adventures, sewing projects, parenting mishaps, unexpected victories, and whatever other chaos life throws my way.

This isn’t a blog about having all the answers.

It’s a blog about surviving the mess.

So if you’re currently taking a bite out of your own shit sandwich, welcome.

    You’re not alone.

    Take a seat….

I’ll share my sandwich, and maybe together we’ll laugh, cry, scream into the void, and somehow make it through.

Welcome to Mess in the Midwest.
